Big Buddha films was established in March 2006 by Debbie Howard. Debbie's aim was to set up a film company making films emphasising strong roles for women.

Debbie’s background is acting. She has been a professional actor for almost twenty years now, and still works regularly in television, film and theatre. However, she always felt that roles for women were comparatively scarce and insubstantial, which compelled her to start writing her own scripts. Big Buddha films plans to produce many of Debbie’s scripts, along with those of other female writers, or at least scripts with great female characters.

Big Buddha Films are always keen to hear from writers, film makers and actors in the Yorkshire area. They are planning their next productions at the moment and welcome interest from potential collaborators.

Debbie and Big Buddha Films are also available to take on film related projects in the community. Debbie has a wealth of experience of working with young people and community projects as a drama worker and workshop leader over many years.
