🎬 Actor’s Mock Casting Class for Film & TV
with Film & TV Director Debbie Howard

Are you new to screen acting or building your first few TV and film credits? This in-person, 3-hour masterclass is the perfect opportunity to develop your on-camera audition technique in a supportive and practical environment.

Led by experienced Film & TV Director Debbie Howard, this workshop is ideal for actors who are just starting out in screen work, seeking their first TV role, or looking to build confidence after booking those early credits. Find out more about Debbie’s work on our About Us page.

What to Expect:

📄 Scripted Scene Work – You’ll be sent a film or TV script in advance to memorize.
🎥 On-Camera Pair Work – You’ll perform the scene in pairs, which will be filmed.
🎭 Direction & Feedback – After your first take, Debbie will provide notes and direction. You’ll then rework and perform the scene again.
👀 Group Learning – Each pair will present their scenes, creating valuable learning moments from each other’s performances.
💬 Q&A and Industry Insight – There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion about casting, audition prep, and navigating the screen industry.

This workshop is run in a friendly, informal setting, and Debbie has delivered it successfully in many cities across the UK — always with fantastic feedback.

🎬 Directing Actors: A Masterclass for Directors
with Film & TV Director Debbie Howard

You’ve mastered the camera — now master the performance.

Many emerging filmmakers excel at the technical aspects of filmmaking but struggle when it comes to working effectively with actors. This practical, in-person 4 hour masterclass is designed to help directors develop the skills needed to draw out authentic, compelling performances from their cast.

Led by award-winning Film & TV Director Debbie Howard, this workshop is ideal for recent film graduates and early-career directors who may have made short films but have had limited experience working with professional actors. Find out more about Debbie’s work on our About Us page.

What You’ll Learn:

🎭 Actor-Director Dynamics – Debbie will guide you through key principles, practical do’s and don’ts, and common pitfalls when directing actors.
💬 Casting & Communication Tips – Get your questions answered about casting processes and how to communicate effectively on set.
🎬 Live Actor Direction – In the second half of the session, you’ll work hands-on with two professional actors, using one of three pre-selected scripts (sent to you in advance).
🎥 Real-Time Practice – Each participant will get a chance to direct the actors and receive constructive feedback on their approach.

This is a rare opportunity to practice directing in a safe, learning-focused environment — and walk away with a deeper understanding of how to bring out the best in your cast.
